At HPR, we believe our clients’ success is our success; their challenges are our challenges. We help our clients achieve their business goals by getting them exposure and credibility unmatched through any other marketing medium. HPR works with the following game-changing and innovative companies on both a retainer and project basis.
SDG&E will be the first major U.S. utility to switch its entire service territory to Smart Meter technology by 2011, giving consumers visibility into their energy usage habits and ultimately helping them save money. In 2009, SDG&E partnered with HPR to develop a Smart Meter Communications Plan that would prepare the customer and the utility for meter installations. Extensive customer research focused on creating a positive installation experience and led the SDG&E Smart Meter program to become the most successful in the U.S. with nearly 1.4 million meters installed with strong customer acceptance.
Risa Baron, Local Outreach Manager SDG&E:
“As SDG&E strives to be the first utility in the U.S. to convert its entire service territory to Smart Meter technology, we needed a customer-centric communications plan to support successful deployment. Hutchens PR’s integrated approach to external communications programs and activities has become a defining factor to our success. The vast majority of customer responses have been positive and our stakeholders remained engaged throughout the entire process.”
CleanTECH San Diego
HPR is a strategic partner with CleanTECH San Diego, a non-profit membership organization formed to accelerate the San Diego region as a world leader in the clean technology economy. We work with CleanTECH to expand regional collaboration in sustainability initiatives, and to generate investment and awareness of the region as world leader in the clean technology economy. Some of our recent collaborative successes include the launch of the Global Cleantech Cluster Association and the launch of Smart City San Diego.
Lisa Bicker, President CleanTECH San Diego:
“Hutchens PR developed and implemented a widespread media and community outreach campaign with the ultimate goal to help San Diego achieve standing as the leading cleantech cluster in the nation. Over the past two years, HPR has secured CleanTECH San Diego prominent and strategic coverage in key regional, national and trade publications, including several front page feature stories.”
Smart City San Diego
Hutchens PR was instrumental in coordinating the launch of Smart City San Diego, a new collaborative among the City of San Diego, SDG&E, GE, UCSD and CleanTECH San Diego that will maximize synergies to drive existing energy programs forward, identify new opportunities, embrace additional collaborators, and move the San Diego region beyond today’s boundaries of sustainability. For the launch, HPR provided community outreach, developed press materials, coordinated speakers and media coverage and successfully secured placement in top tier media outlets, trades, and local San Diego TV stations, including CBS 8, KUSI News, San Diego 6, Fox 5, NBC 7/39 and Univision.
Hutchens PR’s relationship with Chevron spans a 17 year period. HPR has worked with the global energy company on international, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and solar projects, executing communications strategies targeted to industry stakeholders and delivering measurable results. HPR has developed comprehensive public and governmental affairs communications plans for Chevron, which have included public opinion research, public relations, community relations, media relations, government relations, and materials development including project websites, videos and brochures.
Carl Atallah, President Chevron Mexico:
“Hutchens PR was instrumental to us in developing a compelling strategy and masterfully executing a communications plan so that all of our stakeholders were thoroughly educated on our project. We were successful in obtaining all project approvals and making many long-lasting relationships in the community.”
Soitec, a world-leading supplier of advanced solutions for the electronics and energy industries, retained Hutchens PR to develop a media relations strategy for announcing a new solar panel manufacturing facility in San Diego and 150MW solar contract with SDG&E. HPR positioned the announcement as a press conference hosted by Major Jerry Sanders and emphasized job creation, securing media placement in local San Diego publications, including a full-page article in the San Diego Union-Tribune; and TV coverage on local San Diego TV stations, including San Diego 6, 10 News, KUSI News, CBS 8, NBC 7/39 and Univision.
San Diego County Regional Airport Authority
HPR’s experience with government relations, public Airport Authority outreach and education programs made us the choice PR firm for North County outreach for San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s The Green Build, the largest improvement project in the airport’s history. Our strategic approach included direct outreach, marketing and collaboration with governmental agencies. We hosted an event titled Building North County Construction Jobs, which resulted in over 300 attendees and populating the airport database with qualified small business contractors. HPR will continue this outreach and education process through 2013.
Green building and design is a fundamental component in making an economic and environmental impact on how we live, work and play. After decades of experience with real estate development projects, we know market transformation depends on the ability to create sustainable communities. Recently, Hutchens PR orchestrated the public affairs strategy for the Hazard Center Revitalization project, a sustainable, mixed-use and transit-oriented urban project. Hutchens PR developed a diverse coalition and served as the communicatory voice for the LEED project, which resulted in a unanimous vote by San Diego City Council.
Hutchens PR continues to be an integral partner in raising the public profile of Colliers International San Diego Region. Working closely with brokers in Colliers’ two San Diego offices, HPR has generated coverage in local, national, and real estate trade publications as well as grown brand awareness through social media operations, industry awards and community involvement. With a strong influence in the commercial real estate industry in San Diego, we have helped position Colliers as the go-to industry experts.
Viridity Energy, a smart grid company leading the next generation of distributed energy resource management, retained HPR for media relations strategy and to develop a messaging platform and marketing plan framework. HPR secured placement for Viridity project news in top trade and national publications, including The New York Times and Intelligent Utility. Through research and analysis, HPR also developed a messaging strategy and branding platform for Viridity’s marketing, education and public communication materials.
